The fortress  Petrus is one of the largest fortress hills of Medieval Serbia. It is located 11 kilometers northeast of Paracin, near the village of Zabrega. It occupies a stone weald on the top of the hill above the entrance to the gorge of Crnica river. Petrus was the center of the bordering (Krajina) area of ​​the Serbian state in the XIV century and controlled the connection between Pomoravlje and the Timok valley. His lords were the contemporaries of Emperor Dusan and Prince Lazar: zupan Vukoslav and his son. At this site, remains of prehistoric construction, copper coins from the Romans' era, remains of the Byzantine fortifications from the 6th century were discovered, and a large part of the fortress was built in the 12th century. Near the fortress there is a cave, with a large entrance.

There was a spiritual center known as “Mala sveta gora”  in the canyon of Crnica river. Included monastery in Lesje, monasteries dedicated a Holy Mary and  Holy Jovan Glavosek  under the wall of fortress,complex Namasija in yhe central part of canyon Crnica, monastery of Saint Sisoje on the spring of Crnica and ten sacral objects, monastery of Saint Petka, the church Krasa in Buljan, churches dedicated a Saint “Arhandjel” in Davidovac an Stubica, church “Petkovica” in Zabrega.

The ruins of the fortress Petrus are under the protection of the Republic of Serbia, as a cultural monument of great importance, within the protected monument area of ​​the Petrus region. Beautiful nature and rich historical heritage create unique experience
