Beans from the area of Shala have evolved over many years to adapt themselves to rough climate of the mountains and are considered to be very resistant in comparison with other types of beans. This species is not very voluminous but grows very fast in 7-8 weeks. It is usually cultivated in combination with corn to grow along its trunk. The beans of Shala boil fast and have a pleasant taste which is why they are used for many typical dishes in the region.
