Montenegro:Tavern Katič

Petrovac is a well-known tourist place belonging to the Budva municipality. It is mostly visited by foreign tourists, families with young children and the elderly, because of its facilities and natural environment. Petrovac has two beaches. Central is the city beach, about 600m long, along which there is a promenade with numerous cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops. Taxis by boats and tourist boats can be taken individually and in groups for sightseeing in the nearby towns and islands of Katic and Sveta Nedelja. The second beach is called Lucice, about 1km from the town beach. Lučice is a sea cove, between two hills covered with coniferous forest and Mediterranean vegetation. In front of Petrovac, about 1km from the coast are two islands, Katič and Sveta Nedelja. Katic is an island with vegetation and nesting birds. Sveta Nedelja island is more rocky, with less plant life. At its top is a church of the same name. There is a tradition that the church was built by an Italian navigator who experienced shipwreck. He managed to save himself, climbing to the edge of a cliff. The Katič Tavern is in a stone house, typical of the Mediterranean surrounding, in front of which is a spacious terrace. The Mediterranean ambience and climate bring with them the well-known Mediterranean cuisine. What distinguishes Mediterranean cuisine are fish, seafood, salads and pasta. The Adriatic Sea is a habitat for many species of white and blue fish, octopus, squid, shells and crustaceans, known as seafood.Local fishermen get a good catch and prepare the fish “grilled”, (as it is best eaten in these areas), and special place is taken by preparation and baking “in salt”, where the fish retains all its juices, and remains soft and juicy.
