The Mini Zoo Blizna or Wildlife Refuge Shelter is located in Podgorica, 18km away from the city center and covers an area of 12,000 m2 of meadows, forests and pastures where visitors can feed and interact with various animals. Vietnamese pigs, dwarf goats, sheep, deer, a horse, a peacock all live peacefully together. Ducks, Chinese geese and carp enjoying the water of a large pond, and found a llama and two camels here. But there are also smaller animals: rabbits, turtles, a Siberian squirrel and a raven. There is also a brown bear and a wolf.
The Animal Shelter started operating in October 2005, and with an expert team of veterinarians, researchers and animal lovers it successfully deals with the reception and recovery of animals in distress, injured, without shelter, seized in smuggling, or too young and weak to be able to they live independently.
The task of this shelter is to restore wild animals of indigenous species to nature after recovery, and domestic animals, after recovery and stabilization of health, are housed in households where they are wanted and kept in a humane manner according to the regulations of our shelter.
Seized protected species of animals or animals that are no longer able to live independently in nature remain permanently on the property.
