On the northwestern cape of Dugi otok, near Veli Rat, is the highest lighthouse on the Adriatic shore, 42 meters of carved stone. Surrounded by pine trees and pebble beaches, Veli Rat lighthouse is considered one of the most beautiful on the Adriatic. Built in 1849 and according to legend, 100,000 egg yolks were used in the recognizable yellow facade. In the courtyard of the lighthouse is the chapel of St. Nikola, and the lighthouse also offers apartment accommodation (two apartments of 41 m2 and 48 m2).
