TEATRO COMUNALE - FERRARA

The Ferrara Music Association was founded in 1989 by the Municipality of Ferrara and by the maestro Claudio Abbado, quickly becoming one of the most important Italian concert seasons, known throughout the world for the thickness and absolute quality of its artistic proposal. One of his main missions has always been to offer permanent residence to a young international orchestra. Starting in 2018, and until 2020, the European Union Youth Orchestra, also founded by Abbado in 1976, will be the resident orchestra of Ferrara Musica. After the Ferrara premiere the concerts of the resident orchestras are performed on tour in the most prestigious concert halls of the international music scene, bringing the Ferrara Musica brand all over the world. In addition to the concerts of the resident orchestra, Ferrara Musica annually organizes a rich concert season that runs from October to May and includes about 20 evenings a year. Since the birth of the association, hundreds of concerts and great tours have been carried out as well as numerous opera productions in synergy with the Teatro Comunale; many of these historical executions have been recorded by the major record companies. Parallel to the main season which takes place at the Teatro Comunale, Ferrara Musica organizes the OFF event at the Torrione San Giovanni, in collaboration with the Ferrara Jazz Club, characterized by the encounter between classical, contemporary and jazz music, with ample space left to experimentation and to improvisation.
