Njegoš Mausoleum

Njegoš mausoleum, which is located at an altitude of 1657 m, is the largest and most important monument on the mountain Lovćen, it is the grave of one of the most important figures in Montenegrin history - Peter II Petrović Njegoš. It is located on the second highest peak of Mountain Lovcen, built from 1970 to 1974. 461 steps lead to the mausoleum, the place where the greatest Montenegrin historical figure Petar Petrovic Njegos rests. Inside the mausoleum under a golden mosaic, there is a sculpture of Njegos, the work of the famous sculptor Ivan Meštrović.
