It is located in the central part of the Bjelasica mountain range, between the Tara and Lim rivers. The landscape of this area is made up of forests, meadows, water surfaces, mountain ranges and ores. In addition to the Biogradsko Lake, which is located in the heart of Biogradska Gora, the Park has other glacial lakes: Pesic, Ursulovac and Sisko. The largest part of the Park is a rainforest reserve in the basin of the Biograd River and Jezerštica and is one of the oldest protected areas in the world, known as the "Duke's Ban" or "Branik". The age of individual rainforest trees has been estimated at over 400 years, some over 40m high. There are 26 separate plant communities in the Park, with about 2,000 plant species, among which 20% are endemic to the Balkan Peninsula and about 90 species of trees. The forest in the area of Biogradska Rijeka and Jezerštica is covering an area of 1600 ha, left to spontaneous development and in some parts is completely impassable. It is a unique example of the evolution of different forest communities.
