The art of making wooden boats has the status of an intangible cultural property of national importance. For five decades, Bozo Celebic from Zabljak Crnojevic by the Skadar Lake, preserves part of the Montenegrin heritage and manually makes logs, thus keeping this old craft from oblivion. Everywhere you go along the shore of Lake Skadar you will see wooden boats that, according to ethnologists, have been adapted through centuries of experience to the whimsical conditions on the lake, which has always meant life to the people of this region. In the villages that gravitate to Lake Skadar, one can feel the breath of the past, and at the foot of the imperial fortress of Zabljak Crnojevic is the home of the Čelebić family. Here, eighty-year-old master Bozo makes wooden boats. He learned the craft by looking at old master Blaz Brnovic. Due to its specific workmanship and construction, the old wooden boat can withstand the best conditions on the lake when strong winds blow, which is why it is still priced today.
