The church of Saint Donatus in Zadar was desacralized long ago, and from the end of the 19th century to the year 1954 the Archeological Museum Zadar found its place in it. As Saint Donatus has extraordinary accoustic characteristics, it has been the home for musical Renaissance festivals for decades. The monumental medieval monument was built in the 9th centrury according to the model of Byzantine architecture. It was firstly named after the Holy Trinity, than later after the bishop Donatus who built it. It is used for musical programmes. It is the most famous monument of Zadar to which a lot of songs have been dedicated to.
