Prokoško Lake is located on the mountain Vranica, Bosnia and Herzegovina and is of glacial origin. It is located at 1636 meters above sea level. It is 22 km away from Fojnica. In the wider area of the lake are endemic species of flora and fauna. An endemic specimen of the amphibian triton still remains in the lake. Above the lake is the highest peak of Vranica - Nadkrstac, which reaches 2112 m above sea level. Around the lake are numerous shepherd's huts, made of wood. Many locals of the huts surrounding the lake come here in the spring and summer months to herd cattle, pick fruits like blueberries or raspberries, and make cheese. Most of the huts are rented out to tourists. Together with its surroundings, the lake was declared a regional nature park in 1984, and became a zone of strict protection. In 2005, the area became a Natural Monument.
